Kevin D. Belfield,Professor, Dr. Belfield received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Syracuse University in 1988, and performed postdoctoral research at SUNY College of Environmental and Forestry and at Harvard University’s Department of Chemistry.  He is currently Professor and Chair of the University of Central Florida’s Department of Chemistry with a joint appointment in CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics. Dr. Belfield has been a pioneer in two-photon absorbing materials, multiphoton photo-physics, two-photon photochemistry. His research interests are in the area of multiphoton absorbing materials, two-photon photochemistry, in vivo and ex vivo two-photon fluorescence bio-imaging, magnetic polymeric and sol-gel nanocomposites, site-specific fluorophore labeling, fluorescent-based sensors and bioimaging probes, photodynamic therapy agents, nanostructured functional organic and polymeric materials, and two-photon based 3D high density optical data storage.
